The quickest and easiest way to improve your business visibility and to become an expert is by means of public speech. You get acquainted with yourself and businesses. Most small business owners and managers fully understand this, yet even thinking about standing up in public to speak to a room filled with strangers can evoke some nausea in many. Some of the most reliable companies often make best efforts to avoid speaking to the public. However it is a serious error not to take advantage of every opportunity of speaking.

Firstly, you and your company are established as experts in the industry. Let’s begin with recognition of the face.It sounds like something simple, but its importance does not diminish. You’re at a trade show for the industry. In the exhibition hall you stand next to another company. The same product is essentially sold. However, at the conference you deliver the keynote speech. On each of the entry signs to the conference center is your picture, name and company.Which company (who are qualified prospects by the way) are likely to attend the conference? They’re unlikely to stop at your booth.

Even people walking just around can stop talking in a conference session to the person they saw. This is sometimes the edge you need to sell this profitable product. The other reason they choose to stop is because they recognize you as an unselfish expert.
You’ve got to be. How otherwise was the prestigious keynote address invited for you? The prospects assume that you know your business or that you were not invited to speak.

Whatever the industry is, that is true. You’ll start to see you as an industry expert if you are a psychologist with a local practice and people see you speak during conferences and even at local rotary meetings. If this person has the opportunity to visit a psychologist or to speak with a colleague or friend, your name might simply be remembered because he has seen you before. However, it is important that you give a good speech if you decide to speak publicly.

You don’t have to be perfect, the good news. Indeed, public speakers usually don’t have to be especially good to succeed. Usually more than half your audience is on your side. You want to do you good. And it will satisfy your audience that you provide good, sound content in a professional way. However, be ready.

Nothing is worse than allowing a prospect to see how you speak less than well prepared. If your lack of readiness causes you to pause much, stumble over presentation sections, or slip or other presentational aid, then this gives you the air of incompetence and gives you the feeling of expertise, just as surely as a well prepared and delivered talk.

Here are my top seven advice for you.
1. Select three or four main themes – no longer. 1.
2. Ensure that your content has been researched.
3. Write a script – perhaps you don’t have to use it, but writing a script is a good way to correct your thoughts and ideas.
4. Structure your talk about your key subjects. Make sure that you have a start, center and end.
5. Make sure you have prepared your presentation aids well in advance. In the meeting hall, test them.
6. Rehearse – words often don’t flow well when spoken aloud that look great on paper.
7. Again, replay.

Just as seen and heard can gain recognition and enterprise, it can lose you business to be seen and heard giving a poor presentation. So maybe you want to study a couple of public speaking courses to improve your abilities. It may seem like a lot of effort and trouble to speak publicly. You could even be enormously anxious to do so. But there is no doubt that any manager or business owner takes the time and energy to give public speeches. There are few better ways to recognize your name, company and become a clear expert in your industry.
